Nothing on the bundle of the AutoPilot that I obtained from amazon.com ($30.85 shipped once I ordered it) point outs compatibility with the iPod nano fourG. Only 1G to 3G is listed. However, it works completely with the iPod nano 4G. So in box you are shopping for this in retailer don't worry with regard to what it utters on the bundle. It works. However, do not purchase it in retailer because in retailer it's going to almost certainly be $50+tax. If that you would presumably be ready to desk the wait, buy it from Amazon for greater than $20 less. But, hello, it is your cash - do what you need!
The AutoPilot comes with the adaptor and a brief (about three foot) mini-jack audio patch cable. The cable is not specifically thick, so should you wish half-inch think audio cables this isn't for you. However, if you automobilee concerning the sound high quality instead of the thickness of the cable, this could occasionally do effective. ;^) I'm not using the audio cable as a end result of we've got an audio enter in our Matrix via an adaptor box installed behind the dash that has a cable already plugged into it, and changing the cable would contain taking the dash apart. - sounds a lot better then the FM transmitter I used with my old automotive (didn't have an AUX enter).
- Basic controls (Play/Pause, Forward, Back) simple to achieve, no need to fiddle with the ipod whereas I'm driving!
- Lighted regulates straightforward to locate out at night at a glance.
- 5 Volt charger (future proof). Most in automobile costrs are 12 volts (left over from FireWire) 12 Volt charging will no longer be supported beginning with the iPhone 3G. This will have to work with the new batch of iPods which are stated to be released latter this month.
-Uses line out on the Doc connector (no want to crank the volume on the iPod). Has Hi/Low yield switch (Hi = line level, low = headphone level)
- Price. 1/3 the fee of an after stores interface for the Honda stereo (and it's 12V) and 1/8 the related fee of the rip-off Honda iLink interface (12 volts again).
Not so good
- While charging the sunshine fades between bright, dim and back. A bit distracting within the corner of my examine. Since the colour changes (red - no iPod hooked up, amber - charging, green - costd) they don't need the disco mild exhibit.
If you could have a car stereo with an AUX input that is just what you wish to derive your iPod enjoying within the car.
Reviews for Griffin AutoPilot for iPod (Electronics) I emailed Griffin asking if they'd something like this for the iphone threeg and they advised me they had examined it and it labored perfectly. I ordered it and so they had been proper! It works great. The only difficulty is it complains that its not iphone appropriate but it costs the unit and plays the track through the audio out perfectly. I also am now not detecting any critical cellular phone signal concerns.
So if you want a slightly compact costr and audio out answer (you should have some sort of audio in for your car stereo, even a cassette adapter will work) then that is excellent. I additionally apply the buttons to pause and alter monitors which I concept for sure I would not. Turns out its rather a lot easier to press the buttons on the charger than on my iphone.
